The Cornell faculty senate last Wednesday rejected a resolution endorsing a partnership proposal with Peking University in China. Student leaders at Cornell also unanimously voted to demand that the partnership stop. Both groups voiced concern for human rights abuses in China—especially genocide in Xinjiang—as well as the risks to academic freedom.
