A Song Brings Back a Long-Forgotten Memory | Musical Moments
The ensemble “Aspiration” was composed by Joseph Ma in the summer of 2021.
The orchestration of this piece is very simple, using a total of three instruments: piano, viola, and cello.
Among them, the piano is an endless arpeggio performance, showing the dynamic scene of the passage of time and the development of the secular world. It’s like being on a bustling street in Manhattan, New York, seeing people with numb expressions on their faces, toiling and running around in life.
The cello and viola are intertwined with ups and downs, as if looking down at the world from a high altitude. People in the world, rich and poor, are fighting for fame and fortune, but they cannot escape the entanglement of life, old age, illness, and death. In the face of all kinds of temptations, can people still find their true aspiration when they come to this world?
The composer hopes to awaken people’s memories from remote history through music, find their true selves, and find the true meaning of life.
