History

Established in 1953, NTD Architecture's history reflects strategic mergers and acquisitions that

have contributed to the company’s growth and success over the years. Since inception we have grown from one office to seven, gaining strong footholds in California, Arizona, and several other states.

1953

Neptune & Thomas Associates (NTA) was founded by Donald E. Neptune, FAIA, and Joseph F. Thomas, FAIA in Pasadena, California. Their practice centered on services to hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, and public agencies.

1965

NTA added a second office in San Diego, California, which now serves as the company headquarters.

1989

NTA merged with Davis-Duhaime Associates, which was founded in 1971 by Bill Davis, AIA.. Davis' practice was known for its innovative services to public school districts, expertise in public education funding programs, comprehensive masterplanning, demographic mapping, and architectural services. The merger resulted in a name change to Neptune Thomas Davis (NTD).

1994

NTD invited Jordan Knighton, AIA, to merge his practice in Auburn, California with NTD. The combination of Jordan's highly technical medical projects with NTD's vast experience in school design greatly broadened the firm’s geographic market.

2004

NTD merged with The Stichler Group, which was founded in 1980 by Ronald A. Stichler, AIA. The Stichler Group placed a strong focus on research, planning, and design of healthcare facilities. This merger further enhanced the firm’s depth of experience in healthcare and also added the first out-of-state office in Phoenix, Arizona. The merger was also marked with another name change, this time to NTDSTICHLER Architecture.

2006

NTDSTICHLER opened an office in Tucson, Arizona to establish a local presence and support regional needs.

2007

NTDSTICHLER merged with Spencer/Hoskins+associates to further enhance the firm's higher education specialties. In July, the firm opened an office in Visalia, California to better support the needs of the rapidly growing Central Valley. Additionally, in September, NTDSTICHLER Architecture officially changed back to the firm's parent company name of NTD Architecture

2008

NTD Architecture opened an office in Salinas, California to establish a local presence and better support regional clients.
