(Glendale, AZ) September 22, 2008 - NTD Architecture is pleased to announce the completion of the new North Lobby at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, which includes a three-story lobby space, a new main entrance, dining areas, library, chapel, meditation room, gift shop, waiting areas, and centralized admitting services.
"The completion of the lobby is a major milestone in our work at the Banner Thunderbird campus," says Maha Abou-Haidar, AIA, Partner at NTD Architecture. "We are in the home stretch for finishing up additional projects there, including the new patient tower addition, Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit, parking garage, and central plant."
The 25,000-square-foot North Lobby is just part of the $289M expansion project awarded to NTD Architecture in early 2006. The expansion project is being completed via a fast track delivery process and also includes the addition of a 200-bed South Tower that is currently under construction and will add five 40-bed floors and a one acre Emergency Department.
Excavation for the North Lobby began in July of 2007 and completed in August of 2008. An official grand opening for the new lobby was held on Monday, September 8, in conjunction with the Medical Center’s 25-year anniversary celebration and included representatives from the community, local government, hospital staff and administration design and construction professionals. NTD exhibited renderings of the exterior and interior end state design. These renderings were amplified by key statistics of the program.
