NTD Architecture is pleased to announce that construction is progressing on the new Media and Communications Building at San Bernardino Valley College. The placement of the final steel beam took place on Friday, July 31, and was celebrated with a bar-b-q hosted by NTD Architecture.
“The placement of this final steel beam is significant as it represents over 260 tons of steel that have been used in this building,” says Jay R. Tittle, AIA, Partner at NTD Architecture. “Additionally, this is the third of five new buildings that are going up on campus, and it marks the successful half-way point of our campus expansion.”
Construction on the new Media and Communications Building began in May 2009 and has a projected completion date of December 2009. The 18,253-square-foot building is being constructed via a multi-prime delivery method and will be shared with the college’s radio station, KVCR.
The building will feature a communication tower that will aid in the broadcasting of KVCR radio and television. At 200 feet, the building will surpass the campus’ current tallest structure by 120 feet.
