Shen Yun’s Performance Moves Cheyenne Audience to Tears

March 27, 2024

Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage with two performances at Wyoming’s Cheyenne Civic Center on March 12 and 13. Audience members said they were dazzled by Shen Yun’s artistry, and some were even moved to tears.

“I cry tears of joy all the time. So it was just wonderful to see that and to see the expression from all the dancers and the joy on their faces,” said Cheryl Anderson, an accountant at MMS.

“It’s visually lush, I’ve never seen anyone that can tell a story like Shen Yun. It was just stunning,” said David Miller, an electrical engineer.

“It’s amazing, the dancers are exquisite. They’re so talented, and they convey the joy of dance. You can tell they work so hard that they make it look easy,” said Karla Miller, an author and a former dancer.

“It’s awesome, it’s beautiful. Visually, it’s beautiful. The dancing is beautiful. The emotions are really beautiful,” said Tyler McLachlan, the area director of sales at Aimbridge Hospitality.

Shen Yun draws inspiration from China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture and its virtues from before communism. Ancient Chinese people believed that culture was inspired by the Divine.

“It’s kind of divine-inspired. And you can sense that in the production, the passion, and just how everyone’s connected,” said Jim Hoefs, a financial advisor.

“Western culture, we tend to get very self-absorbed. We think about ourselves all the time. It’s nice to know that there are things out there that are bigger than ourselves,” said Mr. Miller.

“I appreciate the efforts. I appreciate the education that they give to people about Chinese culture, and fully support that. It’s nice to see it, because there has been so much suppression from the communist Chinese, and that it’s really nice that someone’s keeping it alive,” said Ms. Miller.

Shen Yun currently has 8 companies touring the globe simultaneously and presents an all-new program every season, including dances, music, stories, and backdrops.

“The performers are fantastic. It’s amazing to watch their ability and how they can communicate the intent of the production for each dance, if you will. Just the way they’re very well trained, obviously. They’re truly consummate professionals in this industry,” said Mr. Hoefs.

Ms. Anderson says she can’t wait to come back for Shen Yun, next year.

“The costuming was wonderful. I love the combination of the background, the theater part of it, and then the dance involved in the music. Just wonderful,” she said. “It’s definitely something you should see and you should see it every year. It’s so exciting to see that it changes every year. That’s wonderful. I’m looking forward to next year.”

Shen Yun will perform in San Luis Obispo, California, on March 26 and 27.
