A zero-revenue startup is now worth $1 billion overnight. The startup, called Character.AI, has secured $150 million in funding. Major venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz led the funding round.
Character.AI lets users create custom AI characters or avatars, which can then be chatted with, like a chatbot doing roleplay. The site has many premade chatbot avatars, for example, Elon Musk. It has some fictional character avatars too. For example, you can ask Super Mario what those power-up mushrooms taste like, or tell Sigmund Freud about your feelings.
