A building crane collapsed at the Twin Dolphin Marina in Bradenton, Florida, on Dec. 13

A construction worker died in an accident on Dec. 13, when a building crane collapsed at the Twin Dolphin Marina in Bradenton.

At approximately 9:27 a.m., police arrived at the scene when they witnessed the crane collapse and found a worker trapped underneath. Unable to move the crane, police officers sought assistance from people nearby.

It took more than 50 people to lift the crane, but after being freed, the worker fell into the water. He was then quickly pulled from the water, where resuscitation was attempted by both the police and, once they arrived, by members of Bradenton Fire rescue.

The victim could not be revived.

Another worker was also injured in the same incident but did not sustain any life-threatening injury.

Emergency crews are asking citizens to avoid the area if possible.
