An 11-year-old is in custody after two people were shot at a home in New Hampshire on March 15, according to reports.

First responders in Alton answered a call at about 7:40 a.m., reported the New Hampshire Union Leader. Belknap County Attorney Andrew Livernois told the news website that at least one of the shootings was fatal.

Sources said a suspect has been apprehended following a frantic search involving the Alton police and the New Hampshire State Police that initially closed off the street, reported the news website. According to WMUR, the suspect was taken into custody at around 9 a.m.

In a tweet, the New Hampshire State Police said they were assisting the local police in a “critical incident,” which ended before 10 a.m.

Alton Central School Principal John MacArthur posted a statement on March 15, saying they were aware of the shooting and confirmed that there was no threat to the school. They said as a precautionary measure they had activated a secure campus.

“Nobody is permitted in or out of the building until we are given an all clear,” MacArthur said.
