12 injured when SUV plows through crowd in Harlem

A large black SUV drove through a crowd of pedestrians in Harlem on July 1.

At least 12 people were injured, two critically.

Police sid the speeding vehicle jumped the curb and hit a bus. Then it spun across the sidewalk and hit a hydrant. if it had not hit a fire hydrant the SUV might have crashed into a Wendy’s restaurant.

Eyewitness Lisa Pedraza tried to describe the scene.

“It hit the curb and it started coming at us, where we were, right in front of a building. and I believed it was going to hit us,” she said.

She thought the spinning vehicle would pin her and her friend to the building.

“As it spun I guess it hit the fire-hydrant, and that’s what hit it … I mean, stopped it eventually,” she said. “I’m still a little shaky, but it’s like  … I really thought we were going to get pinned to the building.”

The driver had to be cut out of the crushed car.
