Sixth-grader William Daniel published his book “You’re Joking Me: Jokes for Kids by a Kid” on Nov. 8, making him one of the youngest to do so. He has a passion to make people happy and hopes to inspire other people, young and old, to pursue their talents.

Daniel created the book containing over 450 jokes by himself, with some inspiration from his father. Talking about his jokes, he said, “When I first came up with them in first and second grade, I just loved sharing jokes and making people laugh.”

His parents fully support his passion, and his mother, who is also his agent, gave him the idea to write a joke book.

Daniel seeks to make clean jokes that bring joy to the world without hurting anyone.

“There’s a lot of dark humor in our world now and that’s not very funny. It’s either against someone or it’s just inappropriate,” he said.

Daniel said that one challenge he faces is blank expressions when people don’t find his jokes funny. However, he does not let this discourage him and continues with his passion.

Another problem he faced was coming up with the jokes. “Some days, I just ran out of creativity,” he said.

Daniel plans to write a second book but also has other dreams he would like to follow, such as piloting a plane one day.

“You’re never too old or too young to do something incredible,” he said.
