Two people were rescued after they fell into a tank full of chocolate at a Mars M&M factory in Pennsylvania on Thursday.
The two people, who are employees at the plant, were unable to get out on their own after they fell in the tank around 1:50 p.m., according to multiple local reports.
The facility is located at 295 Brown Street in Elizabethtown, Lancaster County.
According to a 911 dispatch, the amount of chocolate in the tank was about waist-high. It is unclear what led to them falling into the tank.
Brad Wolfe, the communications supervisor for Lancaster County 911 dispatch, told CNN that fire crews ruled out the idea of “pulling them straight out” of the tank from above.
Instead, they had to “cut a hole in the side of the tank to get them out,” he said, noting that no injuries had been reported at the time.
The Elizabethtown Fire Department later transported the two people to the hospital after they were rescued, potentially out of precaution, according to reports.
Assistant Supervisor Nick Schoenberger of Lancaster County 911 told CNN that one person was “transported by ground” and another was “transported by helicopter.”
“We can confirm both people have been taken offsite for further evaluation. We’re extremely grateful for the quick work of the first responders,” a Mars Wrigley spokesperson later told Fox43.
The two people’s current conditions are unknown.
