In 2013, 0ver 900 people were arrested in eastern China in a fake meat ring scandal. Up to 20,000 tons of meat was passed off as mutton and found to contain everything from fox, mink, and even rat meat. Around 400 cases of meat-related offenses were investigated following a three-month national campaign.
