A 26-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment in Plainsboro, New Jersey, on June 10, at approximately 5:57 p.m., after Plainsboro police responded to a welfare check request made by the woman’s colleagues when she had not returned to work from her lunch break.

The Plainsboro Police Department and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the case as a homicide, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey, and Plainsboro Police Chief Fred Travener said on June 11, according to ABC7News.com.

“The woman’s death is being investigated by Detective Tim McMahon of the Plainsboro Police Department and Detective David Abromaitis of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office,” police said in a press release. “The investigation is active and is continuing.”

Carolyn Byington worked as a senior associate at the Engine marketing firm in Princeton. Engine issued the following statement:

“Engine is in mourning over this shocking, senseless tragedy. Carolyn was deeply cared about by her colleagues. We extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to her family and friends.”

Byington lived at the Hunters Glen apartment complex off Plainsboro Road. Her Neighbors described her to News 12 New Jersey as very introverted and quite to herself. They had seldom seen her out, except when leaving for work.

They told reporters that they saw her come home from work for lunch on Monday afternoon. They heard faint screams coming from her apartment around 1 p.m. and the sound of moving furniture, however, no one seemed to have called 911. But they said they didn’t see anyone leave, according to the report.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Tim McMahon at (609) 799-2333 ext. 1627 or Detective David Abromaitis at (732) 745-4436.

Neighbors Heard New Jersey Couple Argue Night Before Apparent Murder-Suicide

Meanwhile, neighbors heard a New Jersey couple arguing loudly the night before an apparent murder-suicide.

Lydiah Okongo, 40, was found dead on Monday morning, March 5, with multiple gunshots in her head and torso.

Henry Okongo, 51, was also found dead in the couple’s home in Jersey City, with a single gunshot wound to his head.

Police officers believe Henry Okongo killed his wife before committing suicide.

A family member discovered the bodies, reported The Jersey Journal.

Their children, a 2-month-old and a 5-year-old, were found alive inside.

Neighbors apparently heard the Okongos arguing loudly the night before the deaths.

“They quarreled a lot, and they would separate for long periods only to come together again,” Dr. George Omburo, an elder at a local church, told The Nation.

He said neighbors told him they heard a quarrel on Sunday night.

Neighbors said that Lydiah Okongo worked as a nurse while her husband owned multiple laundromats in the area.

Hundreds of area residents helped Henry Okongo save one of his laundromats on Martin Luther King Drive when his lease was up in 2013, but he was behind on rent, according to The Jersey Journal.

He also owned the home that his family lived in as well as a nearby house.

Henry Okongo’s brother used to live in his other home but later moved to North Carolina.

Neighbors told The Journal that the couple lived in the home for at least a decade.

The Okongos emigrated to the United States from Kenya.

Area residents also said that the couple was hard-working and that they were “lovely people,” expressing surprise over the news of the two deaths.
