A 3-year-old boy was found dead after being left in an overheated car in South Florida. Both his parents are staff members of the preschool where the car was parked.
Temperatures outside the car were in the mid-90s Fahrenheit. The child was found unresponsive and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police interviewed the boy’s father late Monday, the Herald reported.
“This tragedy hits close to home, and many in our school community have been affected by it. No words can capture the heartbreak and sadness we feel,” said the center’s dean, Rabbi Benzion Korf, in a short statement on Monday.
Several children from the same family, including the boy, attend Lubavitch Educational Center in Miami Gardens, reported the Miami Herald.
A therapist and grief counselor will be available for staff and students on Tuesday, said Korf.
