36,000 Chinese-Made High Chairs Sold at Walmart Are Recalled

Graco Children’s Products Inc. has recalled about 36,000 high chairs due to a fall hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

“The highchair’s rear legs can pivot out of position making the chair unstable and posing a fall hazard to a child in the highchair,” the CPSC said about the March 1 recall.

Namely, the firm is recalling its Graco Table2Table 6-in-1 highchairs with the model number 1969721.

They were made by Wonderland Nursery Goods Co., LTD, of Dongguan Guangdong, China and imported by Atlanta-based Graco. They were sold only at Walmart.

“The 6-in-1 highchairs convert to six different modes, including a traditional highchair, a booster seat and toddler chair and table. The highchair’s cushion is white with gold and gray polka dots,” the CPSC says.

The model number is printed on a label that’s located on the underside of the seat. The number is also located on the back of the booster seat Graco and Table2Table highchair are also printed on the label beneath the toddler seat.

Consumers that are still using the high chair should “immediately stop,” the CPSC said. To remedy the problem, consumers should call Graco for a repair kit.

They were sold at Walmarts across the United States from October 2016 through December 2017 for about $100. About 3,200 were sold in Canada.

Graco said that it has received 38 reports of the rear leg pivoting out of position. Five kids were injured and got bruises and bumps when the high chair fell over while they were inside, according to the CPSC.

Consumers can call Graco for the free repair kit at 800-345-4109 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET from Monday through Friday, or they go online at www.gracobaby.com.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience our consumers may have experienced, and we appreciate the loyalty of our consumers,” the company wrote on its website.
