Officials in Monmouth County said a 16-year-old is in custody after his parents, sister, and a family friend were found shot and killed inside a Long Branch, New Jersey, home.
Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni told The Associated Press that the teen is expected to face four counts of murder in the shooting deaths. The victims were identified as 44-year-old Steven Kologi and 42-year-old Linda Kologi. His 18-year-old sister, Brittany, and 70-year-old family friend, Mary Schultz, were also found dead.

Police responded to a 911 call of shots fired at the residence at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017. A teenager was taken into custody without incident, Gramiccioni stated.
The teen’s grandfather and brother weren’t targeted and left the home, CBS reported. The home was left unharmed, the prosecutor said.
Charges against the teen are being filed, AP reported.

NBC New York reported that officials recovered a semi-automatic rifle at the house. The gun was legally owned and registered to the address when the incident unfolded.
A motive for the shooting was not detailed.
