Bradley Lowery, a five-year old boy from Blackhall Colliery, England is a cancer patient. The deadly disease however didn’t limit his enthusiasm for soccer. To support his fight for freedom from Cancer, Sutherland soccer club made him the guest of honour of a match and the mascot of their club.
In 2013, Bradley was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that happens mostly in children under five years of age. After two years of chemo he was declared cancer free.
But sadly cancer returned last summer. This type of cancer can be treated only in US and according to a story on Life Buzz, Bradley’s family has so far collected 700,000 pounds.
At such young age, Bradley is fighting with cancer but he’s still not given up hope and his love for soccer has never lessened. The soccer club wanted to motivate him and give him an enriching experience for life.
The boy was warmly treated by Chelsea club when Sutherland had a match with them. All players signed a jersey for Bradley and the boy was excited to wear it.
A player from Chelsea, Diego Costa became friends with Bradley and helped him to score against Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
Bradley’s never give up spirit has caught the world’s attention. The little hero has got 11,000 christmas cards from all over United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. The greeting card campaign was launched by an Everton club soccer fan in Liverpool.
“It is amazing and really brings lots of comfort to us as a family. The cards, money and presents are amazing – it is like Christmas every day,” said his mom Gemma, according to Lifebuzz.
