A 5-year-old girl was found alone and crying after being dropped off at the wrong bus stop in Kentucky—and her mother is demanding to know why.

Paige Allen, the mother, was waiting a the bus stop on Thursday, Aug. 10, for the bus to drop off her daughter but she never arrived.

“(The bus driver) went right past me, dropped the boy off across the street, then kept going,” Allen explained to MyFox8.

Then she called the school system.

A neighbor found the girl, who was crying, on a curb and took her home. “When he told her to get off the bus up there, that’s exactly what she did,” Allen told the Fox affiliate. “She listened to the adult and in this situation, the adult was wrong.”

“Nobody knew where my daughter was. The driver claimed to have dropped her off at home, according to the school, but since I was at the end of the driveway and saw her bus go by, I knew he didn’t,” Allen told Dearly.com.

Allen said she experienced 25 minutes of panic before the girl was returned.

“When I talked to her about what happened, she told me that she told the driver, ‘This isn’t my driveway. I don’t live here.’ And he still let her exit the bus,” she told Dearly, explaining the situation further.

She added, “I called the bus garage and spoke to a man who told me the driver would be fired, but an hour and a half later, he called back after talking to the driver and informed me he would only have a three-day suspension for retraining.”
