An elderly woman was captured in a heartwarming moment handing out warm food to the homeless in almost freezing cold temperatures.

Charlie Franks witnessed and captured the selfless moment when Diana, 72, gave soup to two people sitting on the pavement on Feb. 13 at Portsmouth in the United Kingdom.

“This absolute legend of a lady, deserves all the shares that she gets on social media,” Franks wrote on the social media post.

“I just filmed this in Albert road ‘Southsea’, and by the looks of it !?, she makes a load of soup and goes out to hand it to the homeless !! My faith in humanity is restored, let’s make her famous!” he added.

In the video, Diana could be seen in a blue jacket, reaching into her shopping trolley bag before taking out plastic cups for the people sitting on the pavement.

Since its posting, the video had nearly 190,000 views as of Feb. 15. It was also shared more than 4,400 times and has over 2,500 likes.

Many social media users have complimented the elderly lady for her kindness.

“Wonderful caring Lady we need to take [a] page out of her book … But for the grace of God keep this lovely lady safe,” one social media use wrote.

“Bless her heart at her age you would hope she would be wrapped up inside in the warm such a kind lady,” another wrote.

“How Humble is that it bought tears to my eyes. Bless everyone, share,” another said.

“What a sweetheart, it takes a very special person to take the time to help out like this! And must hard work for her as well,” someone added.

Franks told The News that he spoke with the lady and she told him that she goes out every night to hand out food to the homeless. He said the 72-year-old told him she was volunteering for a religious group in the city.

“When I saw what she was doing it blew my mind. You obviously hear about homeless people and how bad it is today,” Franks told the news website.

Katy Elizabeth, who commented that she was Diana’s daughter, said that Diana knows the people she hands out food to by name and told another social media user that Diana is more worried about Friday night drunks than the homeless.

Meanwhile, Charlie Douglas, who says he is Diana’s grandson, said his grandmother appreciates everyone’s comments.

“She says thank you for all the lovely comments. This is done through St Swithuns Church (southsea). Fathers away tomorrow and she would like to get his permission before saying/doing very much but it is very important to her that it is known that this is what they do at St Swithuns,” Douglas wrote.
