China is responsible for 80 percent of the fishing in the waters off the west coast of Latin America.
And it’s not limited to international waters. China’s activity there also bleeds into the territorial waters and exclusive economic zones of some South American countries.
According to a report by Inter Press Service, over 600 Chinese vessels have entered Peruvian and Ecuadorian waters so far this year.
