88 inmates escape Brazil prison

Eighty-eight prisoners crawled down a 98-foot tunnel to escape a from Parnamirim Penitentiary in northeastern Brazil.

Nine of the escapees have been recaptured.

This is the second prison break this year at Parnamirim Penitentiary. Fourteen prisoners escaped down a tunnel in January.

The prison is overcrowded. It was designed to hold 436 inmates but now houses 589

Well—510 after the latest escape.
