A 9-year-old boy in South Carolina is being hailed a hero after his quick actions saved a neighbor’s life.

Allen Clemmons was working on his Mustang convertible in his backyard over the weekend, but when he tried to remove the transmission, the car slid off the blocks and jack holding it up, and it fell onto Clemmons.

“I was having a really hard time breathing with it on top of me, even though I was kind of on my side,” Clemmons told WIS.

He called out for help for 90 minutes but no one came.

Then he gave one “last holler.” That’s when his 9-year-old neighbor Malachi came running over.

“I was playing outside and I heard someone yelling,” Malachi said, according to WIS “He was saying something like he was stuck but I didn’t know what he meant.”

Once Malachi came over, Clemmons guided him to a nearby jack and he was able to get it under the car. Then he pumped the two-foot pole until the car was raised off of Clemmons.

After jacking the car up, he ran to his aunt’s house to get help. Eventually, another jack was put under the car and onlookers pulled Clemmons out.

“My uncle taught me how to use a jack so I knew how,” Malachi said.

Clemmons was then flown to a hospital. There, he found out that he had six broken ribs and a fractured pelvis.

Clemmons said he owes his life to his young neighbor.

“I don’t think I would have survived another 30 minutes,” he said. “It was getting really hard to breathe. He is truly my guardian angel.”
