A 9-year-old girl was shot dead while sitting in a parked car in Cleveland on Wednesday night.

The girl was later identified as Saniyah Nicholson. She was sitting in a vehicle across the street from Lee Harvard Plaza, reported Fox 8, while her mother went inside a boxing club to pick up her son.

The strip mall includes a hair salon and two cellphone stores as well.

Gunfire erupted in the area and a stray bullet hit Nicholson, killing her. She was rushed to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital but to no avail, reported the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Saniyah lived in Maple Heights, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office told News 5.

One group of shooters was on foot while the other was in a passing car, Cleveland Ward 1 Councilman Joe Jones told WOIO.

Surveillance images captured by cameras in the area picture two men who police officers said are regarded as persons of interest. They’re both wearing hooded sweatshirts, one dark blue and the other light blue.

Anyone with information on the individuals or a vehicle also pictured is urged to call 216-623-5464.

The investigation is being conducted by Cleveland Police Department homicide detectives with help from the gang impact unit and its commander, Gary Gingell.
