It’s part of an emergency dispatcher’s job to handle calls about a building on fire. But for Bill Wiese in Nebraska, he recently got a 911 call he was not expecting.

Wiese originally thought he was handling a house fire very close to his home. However, after the address was corrected, the Douglas dispatcher realized the fire wasn’t close to home, the fire was at home.

He told CNN that he handled it just like other calls, calmly dispatching crews to the scene. He then called his fiance and daughters. Fortunately, none of them were at home.

Unfortunately, the house was ruined, and their family pet was claimed by the fire. According to investigators, the cause was an electrical fire that sparked near a wall-mounted TV.

Although Wiese lost many possessions that day, he was thankful that his family was alive and well.

“I feel grateful that none of my family got hurt … because I don’t think I could have taken that,” said Wiese.

On GoFundMe, a campaign to raise $3000 for Bill’s family was trending on Nov. 19.
