This awesome 97-year-old barber has provided free barber classes for 57 years

There are people who defy age and circumstances and contribute to their immediate communities. 97-year-old, Barber Isaac White Sr. is one such person. He can cut and shape your hair in the twinkling of an eye. He started cutting hair for gentlemen back in 1944 when he began his barber business with only a single chair in someone’s shoe shine parlor.

As Mr. White’s business grew, more and more young people asked if he knew of any barber courses where they could learn to cut hair as well as he does. This was an opportunity Mr. White didn’t want to lose – to give back to his community by offering free barber classes.

According to Huffington Post, in 1960, Mr. White established a barber college in Mobile, Alabama. The courses were free and would provide students with a barbers license’ upon completion of the the course, provided they secured a job for themselves.

White was featured in Allstate’s “Worth Telling” Campaign, which highlights and pays tribute to little-known black change-makers throughout Black History Month.

Mr. Isaac White Sr. was also honored by having a street named after him in the town of Alabama, in 2015.

This touching story helps us realize that doing good things for others brings with it it’s own reward.
