A Somaliland mother can only feed her child by boiling black tea, as drought in the region has decimated crops and killed off livestock. The situation borders on famine.

Thirty-two-year-old Nima Aden Mohamed spoke about how she feeds herself and seven children at a camp on an abandoned airfield.

“I came here with 250 goats. All of them are dead except for two. I have seven children who I am struggling to feed and am forced to give them this black tea without milk as all the animals I used to milk are dead.”

1 million of the 2 million people in the camp face starvation.

Fighting by al-Shabab Islamist terrorists only worsens the situation.

The greater regions of Somalia face a similar situation, including the spreading of disease.
