Jon Voight responded to actress and left-wing activist Alyssa Milano’s criticism of him in which she called the Academy Award-winning actor an “F-lister.”
Voight was criticized by Milano in a tweet on May 25 after he posted videos expressing his support for President Donald Trump and calling him the “greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.”
In reaction, Milano, who is an outspoken leftist activist, took issue with the videos and condemned the senior actor.
“Now I understand why Republicans like to discredit actors and our political views,” she wrote. “‘Stay in your lane, Jon!’ ‘Has been!’ “F-lister trying to stay relevant!’ ‘Nobody cares what an out of touch actor thinks!’”
During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” on June 28, Voight laughed off the criticism, saying that he feels sorry for those who are still ignorant about “the truth.”
“I have sympathy for people that are in ignorance. It doesn’t scare me. Ignorance doesn’t scare me—I was like that myself,” Voight laughed. “I just root for everybody to come to the truth.”
He told the program’s hosts that he had participated in the anti-war movements during the 1960s but later discovered that a great number of people died after the United States withdrew troops from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
“We have to go through a process to learn about the truth sometimes,” Voight said.
The actor was also on the program to talk about the Rally for Freedom, which he will participate in alongside Gold Star families on Independence Day. The rally is meant to ask members of Congress to “stand firm in defending the Constitution against any threats of socialism in our government,” according to the group’s website.
“The people who are speaking so much about socialism, especially the young people who have been indoctrinated in our schools, they don’t know what socialism is,” Voight said.
“If they knew anything about the Second World War, they’d know that socialism is a disaster. It’s never produced anything anywhere in the world. It’s an economic sinkhole, but it also produces nothing but misery and violence,” he added.
Support for the President
Voight has been a vocal supporter of the president. On May 24, he posted two videos praising the president and warned about the political left.
Speaking directly to Republicans, Voight began his video by saying “I know that you’ll agree with me when I say that our president has our utmost respect and our love.”
“This job is not easy for he’s battling the left and their absurd words of destruction. … Our nation has been built on the solid ground from our forefathers and there is a moral code of duty that has been passed on from President Lincoln,” Voight said.

Voight is best known for his roles in the 1969 movie, “Midnight Cowboy” and 1978 movie, “Coming Home.” He has also played roles in a wide range of films including “Mission: Impossible,” “Zoolander,” “Enemy of the State,” and “Deliverance.” More recently, he played Justice Warren E. Burger in the film “Roe v. Wade,” which tells of the story about the untold conspiracy surrounding one of the most contentious cases the Supreme Court has faced in recent memory.
