A cholera outbreak in Yemen has panicked aid organizations. Cholera is more frequent since the civil war started, limiting access to clean water and food. Two hundred and fifty cases of cholera have been confirmed, but there are 11,000 suspected cases. One hundred and thirty people have died.
William Spindler, UNHCR spokesman spoke about the devastating effect of the war on the people, “Hostilities in the Red Sea governorate of Taiz, south of Al Hudaydah have displaced almost 50,000 people since the start of 2017. This is in addition to the 3 million who have been uprooted since the beginning of the war in Yemen.”
The civil war makes it hard for aid, supplies, and food to reach Yemen.
