An Alabama car dealership has gone viral for offering a free shotgun, a Bible and an American flag with the purchase of any vehicle as part of its Fourth of July promotion.
Chatom Ford made a Facebook post on June 19 promoting its “Gods, Guns and Freedom” campaign, which ends July 31, Fox News reported.
Koby Palmer, the general manager, stands in front of a pick-up truck with an American flag on it in the video. He is holding a Bible and a shotgun.
“Not only are they gonna get the great deals and service we provide here, they’re also gonna get a Bible, and American flag and also a 12-gauge shotgun,” Palmer said in the video, which shows the amenities that come with the purchase of a new or used car.

The Fourth of July promotion is meant to be patriotic and not political, Palmer said. The dealership partnered with certified firearms dealers, so each customer would receive the free shotgun after passing a background check and going through the appropriate channels, he said. Customers are not required to take the additional items.
“We don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea,” Palmer told Newsweek. “It’s not like we’re just walking around and handing out guns.”
If a customer purchases a car and wants to have a smaller shotgun, there’s a 20-gauge gun instead, according to Newsweek.
“This is just showing support for our local community,” Palmer told USA Today. “Anyone that doesn’t 100% agree with what we’re portraying, we’re not trying to force our beliefs on anybody. We respect anybody that disagrees, no matter how vehemently they do.”
