Amid controversy over Amazon selling clothing with Nazi symbols, it’s worth noting that the firm has numerous baby items with the communist hammer-and-sickle symbol emblazoned on them.

And it’s not just one item, but dozens of pages worth of baby clothing featuring communist symbols and letterings.

In the 20th century, around 100 million people died under the communist regimes of China, the Soviet Union, Cambodia, North Korea, Ethiopia, and in other places, according to Stéphane Courtois’s “The Black Book of Communism.” Under dictator Mao Zedong’s regime, an estimated 60 million to 80 million died.

The 100 million death figure far exceeds that of Nazism, which left about 16 million dead.

When one does a search for “hammer and sickle baby” on Amazon, there are dozens of results showing baby clothing with the hammer-and-sickle, “CCCP,” the communist red star, or even an image of Karl Marx, who wrote the “Communist Manifesto.” CCCP is a Russian abbreviation for the Soviet Union or Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Several of the items were made by CafePress, a firm that allows people to upload their own graphics design, font, and logos. BabyWit, which has baby clothes that say “I Already Know More Than The President” and “This Machine Kills Fascists,” has the top item under the search result. BabyWit also has a “Hammer and Sickle Communist Socialist Boy Or Girl Toddler Clothes Kids T-Shirt.”

BabyWit says it produces “cool baby clothes, funny onesies, gender neutral baby clothes” and has “garnered press attention from the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald, Redbook, ePregnancy, Children’s Business Magazine, New York Metro, Time Out NY, BuzzFeed and many more.”

CreativeBB has an 18-month onesie that includes the hammer-and-sickle, Home&apron has a four-size romper with the symbol, and Mri-le1 includes baby boy pajamas with the hammer-and-sickle and the CCCP acronym.

Amazon recently came under fire for selling Nazi-themed items on its marketplace. The Partnership for Working Families and the Action Center on Race and the Economy said in a study that the items with Nazi imagery included clothing, jewelry, and replica military regalia. Reports say that Amazon has pulled some of the items after complaints were lodged.

The Epoch Times has reached out to Amazon about the communist-themed baby products.
