A suspect who snuck up behind female Target shoppers and allegedly took pictures up their skirts was arrested by police, thanks to two angry parents who stepped up.
The father, Ismael Duarte, was shopping with his wife Angelica, when their 15-year-old daughter was targeted by the suspect, 29-year-old Jorge A. Ibarra Jr., in a Target store in Cypress on July 29.
“What caught my attention,” said Ismael Duarte in an interview with KCAL9, “when he got close to my daughter [his phone] was in camera mode.”
Duarte instinctively protected his daughter by stepping in between her and the man. But then he saw him target someone else.
“We were coming over to the register and he pops out following another girl,” Duarte said. This time, Duarte didn’t hesitate to take action.
The surveillance video showed Duarte walk up to the suspect and kick his phone away. While the suspect tried to pick up his phone, Duarte pushed and tackled him to the floor.
The suspect managed to escape the store, however, while Duarte and his wife chased him outside and took a picture of his vehicle, which later helped the police to find and arrest the suspect on Aug. 1.
Police said Ibarra is likely the suspect in another upskirt incident that happened earlier that day at a Target store in Cerritos. Ibarra was later booked at the Orange County Jail.
“I’m pissed off that I didn’t do more than what I did. But I wish I would’ve, because I’m so angry,” Duarte said to Fox.
