Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday (March 20) any chance for dialogue on the situation on the Korean peninsula must be seized.

“No matter what the possibility, any chance for dialogue must be seized,” he said. “Whatever chance there is for peace, we cannot abandon it.”

Wang made the comments at the China Development Forum in Beijing.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met with Wang on Saturday (March 18) and in comments following their meeting said that the United States and China would work together to get nuclear-armed North Korea to take “a different course”.

North Korea on Sunday (March 19) announced that it had conducted a test of a newly developed high-thrust rocket engine.
