Argentine city almost washed away by floods

The Argentine city of Comodoro Rivadavia was almost washed away by floodwater on Friday, April 7.

The city of Comodoro Rivadavia was inundated by 15 feet of floodwater.

The flood came quickly, without warning. People in the streets had to abandon their vehicles.

“This came as a blow,” said one resident. “We had a good night, calm, a little water. But suddenly the water appeared. We don’t know from where and it covered everything.”

Some thousand residents had to evacuate. No deaths were reported.

Argentina’s Patagonia region was drenched by heavy downpours which destroyed thousands of homes.

More rain is predicted.
