Arizona firefighters are starting to contain a forest fire that engulfed 20,000 acres, forcing the evacuation of the small town of Mayer, Arizona.
With some 40 percent of the fire now contained, evacuations are being lifted.
The 1,400 residents of Mayer were allowed to return home on Thursday.
In many places, a dusting of red fire retardant has left a red reminder of the danger.
The dust was left on cars, homes and plants.
