A pair of Timony Grammar School youngsters just had the surprise of their lifetime.

The two boys, 8-year-old Jacob Cobb and his older brother, Tyler Cobb, 12, hadn’t seen their mother in seven months while she was away completing the U.S. Army National Guard training.

In a last-minute assembly on Wednesday morning, Nov. 14, under the guise of honoring veterans, Private First Class Kelli Davidson walked out onstage, still in her army attire, surprising her sons.

As soon as the boys saw her, they ran across the stage, where all three hugged.

“I was so happy,” J. Cobb says.

It was an emotional reunion for all.

“I had butterflies in my stomach. It was like Christmas morning,” Davidson says. “I missed a lot. So, I’m excited to be back with the boys.”

Davidson enlisted in the National Guard for tuition assistance while she completes nursing school.

She left for the first round of training on April 30, which took place in Fort Sill in Oklahoma, and then the second round in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, her husband said, according to the Eagle Tribune.

Private Davidson will serve the National Guard one weekend each month and two weeks each year, Fox News reported.

“It’s been long, but we’re back now,” T. Cobb says.
