Assessing US Troop Pullout From Afghanistan

The United States is sending warplanes to Afghanistan to protect U.S. and coalition forces as they withdraw from the country. According to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, six B-52 bombers and a dozen F-18 fighter jets have been deployed. This comes after a bomb exploded at a school in western Afghanistan on Monday, wounding 21 people. And there have been almost 300 attacks by the Taliban across the country in the last few days. Earlier NTD spoke with counterterrorism expert Dr. Jeffrey Treistman on whether there may be a violent resurgence of the Taliban.
