Attorney General Jeff Sessions appeared before the Senate Intelligence Committee on June 13.
He denied any involvement with possible Russian operatives who allegedly interfered in the 2016 election.
Sessions, who worked with President Trump’s campaign staff, admitted to meeting with Russian officials during and after the election.
He had already said he never discussed the election with them. At this hearing he simply repeated those points.
“Let me state this clearly.” Sessions said, “I have never met with or had any conversations with any Russians or any foreign officials concerning any type of interference with any campaign or election in the United States. Further, I have no knowledge of any such conversations by anyone connected to the Trump campaign.”
Sessions was also questioned about the firing of FBI ex-Director James Comey.
Sessions told the committee that he told the president of his concerns about “the ongoing leadership issues at the FBI,” and presented his recommendations, along with those of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
He pointed out that all of the relevant documents had already been made public by the White House.
