Classical Chinese dance company Shen Yun is making its way across Texas.

Audiences in Corpus Christi were amazed to see the show’s colorful backdrop come to life on April 17.

“I thought it was really unique. I had never seen this type of thing before where the backdrop was part of the story, where they would go over the side and go down the tunnel, and carry out the story in graphics, and then come back. That was really highly unexpected. I loved it. I thought it was really great, a great way to expand the story,” said Anita Mallory, a jewelry designer and business owner.

“Everything was so perfectly choreographed and the music was so special and right at the right moment, every note, they turned when they were supposed to, and it was just so beautifully done,” she added.

“The dancing and the costumes, and the screen in the back where the people seem to fly and land and then appear on the stage. That was incredible,” said Mike Sepulveda, an adviser at a Catholic school.

“The technology that they used to do that, how it interacted and fit in with the performance. The music just kind of built the whole scene. It was very impressive actually,” said audience member Ray Jasso, who attended the performance with his wife Linda.

The showgoers said they’ll be back again.

“It you haven’t seen this show, you need to come and see it because it’s different from anything you’ve ever seen before. It’s worth it,” said Mallory.

“We just thought it was beautiful. I loved it and we’ll come back next year,” said Linda.

“I’m looking forward to next year. I would hope everybody would come and see this great, great program,” said Sepulveda.

Shen Yun will be performing next in McAllen, Texas.
