Austin Visits India for Defense, Security Talks

A partnership upgrade may be in the cards for Washington and New Delhi.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin visited India Monday.

Meeting with his Indian counterpart, Rajnath Singh, the two discussed regional security and weapons supply chains. The officials agreed to look for opportunities to co-develop new technologies and co-produce both old and new gear. That’s as India works to ease up on purchases from its biggest arms supplier: Russia.
