BART Decommissions Legacy Vehicles

Have you ever wanted to own a decommissioned train car? A popular transit system in California’s Bay Area is donating its legacy vehicles, as it brings in new cars.

Bay Area Rapid Transit, also known as BART, has carried passengers in the Bay Area for nearly 50 years. On Jan. 19, BART accepted applications for people who want to reuse its legacy cars. Several proposed ideas to give the cars a new life include art purposes, restaurant use, or even homeless shelters.
