The Basque separatist group ETA has decided to disarm. The group sent out a letter declaring that it had handed over all of its arms and explosives. The group sought independence for the Basque mountainous territory that includes portions of Spain and France.
The disarmament comes after a ceasefire was declared in 2011. In recent years authorities weakened the group by arresting many of its members and seizing weapons.
