Not all zoos or circuses truly care for their animals. Some animals are forced to live in tiny cages, do not have access to proper medical care and are not allowed to have a natural habitat – all for the ‘entertainment’ of humans. In 2015, Animal Defenders International helped save a bear named Cholita.
Cholita had lived in a cage for 20 years and suffered at the hands of her owners. They cut off her toes, she lost all her fur, and she doesn’t even look like a bear anymore. Watch the video below to see Cholita and how her life has changed thanks to the people at Animal Defenders International.

It has been a lovely year for Cholita – she is finally free and can feel the earth beneath her feet and the sun on her body. She can play, relax, and eat whenever she wants!
