Belgian police stop driver speeding toward pedestrian mall

Police in Antwerp, Belgium stopped a driver speeding toward a pedestrian-only shopping district on Thursday, March 23.

Police initially noticed the car was driving at high speed toward a security checkpoint, causing pedestrians to flee.

The vehicle ignored the guards and also ran a red light.

Pursuit vehicles were mobilized and the driver, a man of North African descent, was intercepted and arrested.

The police gave no word as to the driver’s possible motivations.
