President Joe Biden has denounced states that have, or are seeking, to outlaw sex change procedures on children, calling bills that recently passed, or are being considered, in multiple Republican-led legislatures “immoral.”
“I don’t think any state or anybody should have the right to do that as a moral question. As a legal question, I just think it’s wrong,” Biden said during an interview with NowThis News that aired across the progressive social media-focused platform on Sunday.
Biden commented on the matter during a sit-down with transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney, a 25-year-old biological male from San Diego, Calif., who has been chronicling 221 days of “being a girl.”
Mulvaney asked the president if states should be allowed to ban “gender-affirming health care,” such as irreversible and life-altering sex-change surgeries and puberty blockers.
“Sometimes, they try to block you from being able to access certain medicines, being able to access certain procedures,” Biden said. “No state should be able to do that in my view.”
“It’s really important that we continue to speak out about the basic fundamental rights of all human beings, and the idea, the idea, that was going on, you know, in some states—I won’t get into the politics of it, but, some states, it’s just—it’s outrageous, and I think it’s immoral,” he added.
Biden also said he feels “very, very strongly” that transgender people should have “every single solitary right” including the use of “identity bathrooms in public.”
Puberty Blocker Warning
In July, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) added a warning to the labeling of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists—also referred to by many as puberty blockers—saying the drugs may cause a series of symptoms in children that include headaches, pressure buildup around the brain, and vision loss.
Despite this, the Biden administration continues the advocacy of what it describes as “gender-affirming health care,” which gives people, including children, easy access to sex change treatments.
Biden did not specifically point out whether his view also applies to underaged Americans, though he spoke from the angle of states that have continually taken steps to prevent and advise children not to undergo sex change surgery or hormone treatment until they become of age.

Multiple states nationwide have restricted, or are considering, laws to ban early access to sex-transition procedures—including puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and irreversible and risky sex-change surgeries—in children experiencing gender dysphoria.
Gender dysphoria, according to the American Psychiatric Association, is a condition of distress created by an individual who identifies with the opposite biological sex.
As previously reported by The Epoch Times, two separate studies found that 88 percent of boys and girls (2-to 12-years of age) who experienced gender dysphoria—who did not undergo transitioning—reported when they were adolescents and young adults that it was no longer an issue and they accepted their biological gender.
