The Biden administration says it wants to make the new child tax credit permanent. Under the latest virus spending bill many families will get free money to the tune of $3,000-$3,500 per year, per child.

Some estimate it could add $100 billion per year to the deficit. But according to poverty and family expert Robert Rector at the Heritage Foundation, it won’t help in the battle against poverty.
