Bloodied Child Tells Ohio Police Officers: ‘Mommy Did This’
(Youngstown Police Department)

A bloodied seven-year-old girl told police officers who responded to her home that “Mommy did this.”

Youngstown police officers responded to a home on Winchester Avenue on Wednesday night after a witness said a woman was beating her own daughter.

The witness told police that 24-year-old Stephanie Stevens repeatedly struck the girl in the face, and also slapped her face and head.

When officers arrived, the girl said: “Mommy did this. Mommy hit me!” according to a police report cited by WFMJ.

Stevens said what happened was an accident but was booked into jail and charged with endangering children.

The girl and her siblings were given to the care of a family member.

People commenting on Facebook were outraged.

One user said, “Let me smack her around a little bit, see how she likes it. Idgaf how mad my children make me, or how stressed out life has me, I would never harm my child. BLOODY my child. I’m not above a smack on the butt, but to intentionally cause harm?! Hell no. Get some mental health counseling.”

Another added, “The worst part is she will get them back to do it all over again, these poor children will have to live in fear of this monster, at least till each one is 18.”

And another said, “This unbelievable! Her picture she does not look remorseful at all!! There is fine a line between spanking & discipline. Then there is abuse.”

Yet another user commented, “This just breaks my heart.”‘
