The Swedish Academy will award Bob Dylan The Nobel Prize in literature next weekend. He is getting the award based on his contributions to the literature of music.

Sara Danius, permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, told an audience of Dylan’s contributions.

“The Nobel Prize in literature for 2016 is awarded to Bob Dylan for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition,” she said.

The Swedish Academy blog announced the good news that Dylan would receive the award in person, after earlier news that he wouldn’t come. This is one of many grand awards Dylan has received over the years.
