Officer Aaron Bulmer passed this pond in Topeka, Kansas, at exactly the right time.

As he drove by, he saw a toddler’s head slip beneath the surface of the water.

Bulmer leaped from his car and dove into the frigid pond without hesitation, and reached the child before he completely disappeared.

Bulmer pulled the child out of the water while calling for an ambulance on his radio.

A neighbor ran up as Bulmer and the child reached the shore, and wrapped the child in his jacket.

The child was autistic; he had wandered off from his parent’s house a couple blocks away.

The boy’s parents met him at the hospital.

The entire incident was recorded by Officer Bullmer’s body camera.
