The ex-husband of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) was arrested on Jan. 9 for charges including assault, according to records obtained by The Epoch Times.
Jayson Boebert, 43, was taken into custody for prohibited use of a firearm, two counts of assault, obstructing law enforcement, trespassing, and disorderly conduct, according to the state records. None of the charges are felonies.
Mr. Boebert was released soon after being booked, according to Garfield County jail records.
The arrest came several days after police officers responded to a restaurant in Silt over an alleged altercation between Ms. Boebert, 37, and her former spouse.
Mr. Boebert had claimed that Ms. Boebert punched him in the face, an allegation that Ms. Boebert denied.
“I didn’t punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested,“ Ms. Boebert said in a statement. ”I will be consulting with my lawyer about the false claims he made against me and evaluate all of my legal options.”
Neither Mr. Boebert nor Ms. Boebert responded to requests for comment on his arrest.
According to affidavits obtained by The Epoch Times, the charges stem in part from the weekend incident.
Mr. Boebert refused to leave the restaurant after being ordered to by an officer following the officer’s consultation with the restaurant’s manager, according to one affidavit. He resisted being escorted outside, officers said.
That resulted in the disorderly conduct, trespassing, and obstruction charges.
The other charges stem from events in the early morning of Tuesday, including Mr. Boebert assaulting his father Tyler Boebert, according to the other affidavit.
County prosecutors declined to comment.
The Silt Police Department and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office did not return inquiries.
Both Mr. Boebert and Ms. Boebert have been in legal trouble in the past.
Mr. Boebert’s criminal history includes indecent exposure and a domestic violence charge.
Ms. Boebert has been accused of harassment and failure to appear.
Silt Police Chief Mike Kite previously told news outlets that officers went to the Miner’s Claim, a restaurant, on Saturday night after receiving a report of an altercation. He said that no arrests were made but declined to say anything else, citing an ongoing investigation.
Mr. Boebert said he was punched, court records show.
Mr. Boebert later told Westword that he “should have handled it more responsibly.”
He added: “Look how it escalated. It turned into this big deal, and honestly, it’s just two people trying to figure out, you know, how to have peace with each other and how to move forward from here. It’s just unfortunate, because now it’s turned into this big story. And I know it’s hurt her. She’s a good person; she didn’t deserve that.”
Mr. and Ms. Boebert divorced in 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. They share four children and have one grandchild.

On Saturday, officers went to Miner’s Claim after receiving a call from a male who said there had been “domestic violence abuse,” according to the affidavit. Ms. Boebert also called the police.
Ms. Boebert told officers she was talking with her ex-husband and they began discussing their new partners. The conversation grew heated. Ms. Boebert said she touched Mr. Boebert’s nose, prompting him to call 911.
Ms. Boebert said both she and Mr. Boebert had been drinking but that he had drunk more.
The point of the discussion, which started at their old residence, was to reconcile and get on good terms, Ms. Boebert said. She said their 14-year-old son witnessed some of the interactions at the house.
Mr. Boebert was shouting as the officer spoke to Mr. Boebert. He went inside the restaurant despite being ordered to stay outside, officers said. When they found him, he kept defying commands. He was quoted as saying, “she punched me in the face, I ain’t doing anything.” Officers said he appeared to be drunk.
That’s when he was asked to leave by officers, who had spoken with the restaurant’s manager. Mr. Boebert did not leave without resistance, according to the affidavit.
The other affidavit said Mr. Boebert threw his father’s phone across a house and pushed him to the ground. Mr. Boebert grabbed a rifle when his father called 911, according to the affidavit.
Law enforcement officers feared he was setting up an ambush and staged near the house. Mr. Boebert’s father and others left the home.
“At this point, considering that Jayson was the only person at the property and he was not a safety concern to anyone else, it was decided that everyone would relocate to the Silt Police Department,” an officer wrote.
Mr. Boebert’s father later told officers that his son brought a person to the house and he became concerned because Mr. Boebert was not allowed to be around the woman. When the elder Mr. Boebert confronted his son, Mr. Boebert shoved him. When a woman tried to intervene, according to the affidavit, she was also shoved.
